ALIF:
1st Song: Tak Bisakah (Peter Pan)
Syafinaz – Suara Alif tak keluar sebab terlalu emotional, pasal Alif nangis tadi kan? Sounded too nasal, while I thought the performance was just OK. Not much to say about it.
Paul – Just shows the wonder of what Aubrey and I could do for you. Just need the right song that will suit you a lot better. By the way, I’m just wondering, who the hell voted for you? How come you are not in Bottom 4? As for the performance, I thought it was a bit amateurish, weak, there was no passion. You have to do well next time or you will end up in Bottom 4!
2nd Song: Harder to Breathe (Maroon 5)
Syafinaz – Thank god you’ve got a second song tonight because first song you hancur tadi. Paul tanya sape yang voted for you? I think people suka tengok you on stage because the way you move and you ada sikit karisma. But masa persembahan tadi pergerakan nampak kurang focus sikit, you gerak sana sini tapi nampak macam takde direction.
Paul – I thought it’s terrible to have two songs! I still don’t know what to do for your brand? In diary, you are always making faces and cracking jokes, playful and moving around. But when you were singing just now you put on a serious _expression like you want to look harder and meaner than Kid Rock! There was no cohesion between the real Alif and the one on the stage. What is this? Which one are you? Right now you have organized support from your fans but as we move on I can see it will decrease and grow less and less and you will be in trouble.
AZFAR:1st Song: Inayah (Zainal Abidin)
Syafinaz – You started off really well, having been asked mana Azfar sebenar pergi? Because I really like this performance compared to the last 2 weeks. Tapi nak cakap sikit, kalau duduk tuh jangan terkangkang ye, boys and girls, be careful. You need to look good and sound good and I’m talking about posture right now ok. Nampaknya doa Azfar dimakbul tuhan malam nih, you managed to come back again. Alhamdulillah…
Paul – I’m actually quite surprised with Aubrey’s choice. He actually went with a different approach of a current song and slower arrangement. I thought it worked with your voice 75% because at the end you seemed to lose your way. It looked like you don’t know who you are and you are not being you. Looked like you were hunting for votes, you should stick to your thing and use this show as your launch pad. Don’t worry about everything else, because you just have to give your best shot. If you do that then 90% of it will work.
2nd Song: Andalusia (M.Nasir)
Syafinaz – That was not bad but it wasn’t that great either. M. Nasir obviously can carry the song well, but for you, I think you need to add some modern element in your music. It’s ok to stick with ethnic, but you have to change your posture and change your hair, turn around for me. Rambut you berdiri apasal? You need to change. I know it’s probably stylish but it’s not nice to me. Anyway, you need to infuse some modern and different element in your music. But it’s ok to like what you like, there’s no shame in it.
Paul – I think people will remember the second song’s performance and will vote based on that. So you are saying this is your style? Are you certain? Then if that’s a yes, my questions are, how would you make it relevant to your audience? How would you do your music approach? How to do it in 2006? You have got to find a way to sell it because who’s going to buy it? You need to start getting out there, check reference books or do some research and look up music that would work in modern context. You have got to somehow make it relevant in this age!
DAYANG:1st Song: Fever (Beyonce’)
Syafinaz – Satu lagi tepukan untuk Dayang. Kadang-kadang kita perlukan visual untuk mengetahui samada suara itu sedap atau tidak. But with you, I don’t even have to see you and I could still enjoy listening to you.
Paul agreed with Syafinaz and Syafinaz said that Paul laki gatal ?
Bila Dayang nyanyi tadi, I like the performance, the dance, dynamic and the timbre in your voice, very sexy. I like it.
Paul - Not the usual boring ballad, great performance! But I still think we could see more. If you believe this is really who you are, then you should have just gone all the way. Don’t be like some other boring TV star.
2nd Song: Be Without You (Mary J Blige)
Syafinaz – Wah macam kat concert, siap dapat bunga lagi! That was a very controlled performance. No add lib couldn’t hear the music in the beginning. You control the crowd well, siap suruh angkat tangan and everything, apa lagi yang they all nih semua ikut next? But I think I prefer your performance during the first song better.
Paul – During the first song you were seductive like a super hot funky diva, like the R&B singer that you are. From the second song it shows that you can be a diva and attention grabber. But I feel that you are only delivering 60% from your performances. No one else in Malaysia can be that funky dive, only you can! So, c’mon, be that person, you have got to do it!
FAIZAL:1st Song: Superstition (Stevie Wonder)
Syafinaz – Dari tempat saya, nampak posisi tuh kurang menarik. Haha! But that was really, really, really entertaining. Not everyone can tackle a Stevie Wonder song, ye. Good job! There was a bit of intonation problem at the beginning, kan? But overall, it was really entertaining, good and catchy.
Paul – Yes, it was catchy and has a rocking feeling to it. Felt like a real concert. You didn’t try to make it too funky or too Stevie Wonder, you made it your style and it was you! You know what? It’s ok to be one of the Bottom 4 this week cause there are only seven people left, so what?! Don’t change what you are doing, don’t get distracted just because you’ve got low votes, just stick to your style and keep giving what you have.
2nd Song: Elevation (U2)
Syafinaz – Both of us were saying, “Eh! He’s actually pretty good!” Masa bridge tak dengar sangat lagu and voice pun tak dengar sangat. I’m not sure if the audience dengar jugak but one thing for sure, you are full of energy. Macam Superman! Next time I want to see if Faizal can control the crowd and give effective performance without moving around so much.
Paul – There was nothing wrong with the performance. I thought it was just a bit easy since I expected something different and amazing. Instead, it was just the same your typical type. That’s good I guess because you know what you are doing and who you are doing it for, so keep it up!
FARAH:
1st Song: Tak Tercapai Akalmu (Elyana)
Syafinaz – Let’s start with the things I like first; I love what you are wearing, the way you look, your clothes and make-up, I think they are perfect. Unfortunately, there’s something wrong with your voice, memory lapses and worst, you sowed us that you forgot the song’s lyrics. What happened? You have to work on it!
Paul – Didin’t really work, was it? Felt it was one dimentional and not a powerful rock performance. Came across better on TV but you didn’t look committed at all. Somehow looks like you are miming to something else. You were in Bottom 3, you are going to be in danger if you don’t turn it around.
2nd Song: Takkan Ada Cinta Yang Lain (Dewa)
Syafinaz – Satu perkara yang saya paling menyampah sekali is promounciation ‘T’ kita tak cakap begini ok, “cintha” ‘R’ is ‘rah’ etc. basic things like this you all need to know as a singer. It’s as simple as that. Lots of intonations problems. Posisi you minggu ini sangat rapuh!
Paul – That was weird, vocal disrupted. Typical song or I don’t even know what that was. Here’s what I wrote in my notes; “Abysmal at times”, be sure to look the word up in dictionary. You are officially in big trouble!
SUKI:
1st Song: Pudar (Rossa)
Syafinaz – That was a good one. Persembahan Suki sentiasa sama since last few weeks but tonite thanks to Aubrey you did something new; that was cute, sexy and naughty, I like it! One more thing Suki, you’ve put on weight laa, jaga diri sikit ok, nanti chubby sangat pulak.
Paul – After 2 weeks notice, that was a lot better. You’ve come a long way of being good. Among all of them, you could be great, but you are not great yet. You have to learn to let go and give it all. You need to seriously learn how to let go on stage. Give it more than 100% then you can be great.
2nd Song: When It Falls Apart (The Veronicas)
Syafinaz – It’s different to start singing without cue from musician. You did ok. It wasn’t that great. You need more work in your vocal, from week to week now, there’s no change in vocal arrangement. I think it it’s the age factor because you are still young, that’s why you need someone like Aubrey to guide you.
Paul – Suki, you look like a girl shopping at One Utama and singing in One Utama. No stretch vocal, there was nothing! I agree exactly with what Syafinaz said. We are giving away RM1 Million, but for that, I wouldn’t even pay RM1.
